Mookaite (also Mookaite or Mooka Jasper) is mineralogically a jasper (SiO₂, Mohs hardness 6.5–7, trigonal crystal system). It is a sedimentary rock that formed approximately 120 million years ago from the skeletons of radiolarians (microscopic marine organisms). Its characteristic warm colors – yellow, red, beige, cream, burgundy, and brown – are created by various iron oxides and mineral inclusions. Mookaite is found exclusively in Western Australia (Mooka Creek). The large, flat beads (16 × 20 mm) provide an impressive surface for the natural interplay of colors.
Significance in Crystal Healing
Mookaite is considered a stone of vitality, a sense of adventure, and inner balance. It is said to provide calm and equilibrium, promote openness to new experiences, and strengthen vitality and decisiveness. It is believed to be associated with the root, sacral, and solar plexus chakras. These attributions are based on tradition and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
