Agates belong to the chalcedony group and thus to the quartz minerals. They form in cavities of volcanic rocks, where silicic acid solutions are deposited and solidify in phases. This layered structure creates the characteristic layers and patterns of agates – no two stones are alike.
Green agates are not found in nature with this intensity – the strong green color is created by dyeing or burning. Dyed agates are therefore primarily considered ornamental stones. Agate occurs worldwide; significant deposits are located in Brazil, Uruguay, India, Madagascar, and Germany (Idar-Oberstein).
Meaning in crystal healing
In crystal healing, agate is generally attributed with a balancing and grounding effect. It is said to strengthen the sense of reality and have a stabilizing effect on body and mind. Since this agate is dyed, it is usually considered more of an ornamental stone in crystal healing. These attributions are based on traditional beliefs and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
