Malachite pendant

The name comes from the Greek word "malache" – the mallow – because its green color so closely resembles the leaves of this plant. Malachite is one of the oldest known gemstones and ornamental stones: The Egyptians polished it into amulets and scarabs, ground it for eyeshadow, and used it as a pigment for painting.

This pendant showcases the stone in its characteristic form – deep, rich green with the typical concentric bands and patterns that make each piece unique. The overall size is approx. 30 × 18 mm, set in 925 sterling silver.

Malachite is a copper carbonate and forms through the weathering of copper-containing rocks. It owes its intense green color to its high copper content. The characteristic banding is created by different growth phases of the mineral. The 925 sterling silver setting is carefully crafted; as malachite is a natural stone, patterns and color depth vary from stone to stone.

Meaning in Healing Stone Therapy

In lithotherapy, malachite is considered a powerful protective and transformative stone. It is associated with deep emotional cleansing and the ability to let go of entrenched patterns – a companion for phases when change is imminent or old burdens take up space.

Traditionally, it is assigned to the heart area. In experiential healing, it is used for issues such as emotional rigidity, tension, and the desire for more inner flexibility. In ancient traditions, it was also referred to as "midwife's stone" and associated with alleviating physical discomfort.

General Information

Malachite is sensitive to acids, strong cleaning agents, and prolonged moisture exposure – it should therefore not be immersed in water. A soft, dry cloth is sufficient for cleaning. It is best to store the pendant separately from other jewelry to avoid scratches on the surface.
