Amazonite received its name from Alexander von Humboldt, who called it "stone of the Amazon." It belongs to the potassium feldspar group and displays a characteristic light blue to strong turquoise color, which is caused by inclusions of lead and water in the crystal lattice. The fine faceted spheres on this strand are particularly suitable for delicate jewelry work and as accent beads.
