Amazonite received its name from Alexander von Humboldt, who called it "stone of the Amazon." It belongs to the group of potassium feldspars and exhibits a characteristic light blue to strong turquoise coloration, which results from inclusions of lead and water in the crystal lattice. The finely faceted spheres of this strand are particularly suitable for delicate jewelry work and as accent beads.
