Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz (SiO₂) with a Mohs hardness of 7. Its characteristic violet color is created by iron inclusions and natural irradiation. The faceted cut refracts the light and gives the delicate 3 mm beads a softly sparkling luster that effectively accentuates the amethyst's intense color.
