Amethyst Quartz – also known as Amethyst Rock Crystal or Chevron Amethyst – is a natural intergrowth of violet amethyst and white quartz. The characteristic stripes and zones are created by alternating growth phases in the crystal lattice. Each bead shows a unique pattern of violet and white.

Mineralogically, amethyst quartz belongs to the crystal quartz group. The violet colour is caused by iron inclusions. Important deposits are located in Brazil, Uruguay, Namibia and Zambia.

Significance in healing stone therapy

In healing stone therapy, amethyst quartz is attributed a clarifying and harmonizing effect. It is said to combine the properties of amethyst and rock crystal and to have both a calming and energizing effect. These attributions are based on traditional beliefs and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
