The name Apatite comes from the Greek apatao – "to deceive" – as the stone was and is easily confused with other minerals. Mineralogically, apatite is a calcium phosphate and displays a remarkable variety of colors: colorless, brown, yellow, green, blue, and rarely pink and violet. A yellowish-green variety is also called Asparagus Stone.

Significance in crystal healing

In crystal healing, apatite is attributed with a clarifying and motivating effect. It is said to promote concentration and openness as well as balance mood swings. These attributions are based on traditional beliefs and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
