Aquamarine is presented in this gemstone necklace as a finely faceted button-style chain with varying stone sizes from 5 to 9 mm. The different sizes create a lively, organic play of light; the stones shimmer in delicate light blue to vibrant greenish-blue, transparent and clear with a characteristic vitreous luster. Aquamarine is a blue to blue-green variety of the mineral beryl (Be₃Al₂Si₆O₁₈) with a Mohs hardness of 7.5–8. The color is caused by iron ions in the crystal lattice.
