The name Aventurine is derived from the Italian a ventura – "by chance" – and refers to a glass variety with a similar shimmer that was discovered by chance. Green aventurine is a fine-grained quartz whose characteristic sparkle is caused by embedded fuchsite or hematite platelets – this phenomenon is called aventurescence. The large 8 mm beads create a striking, natural accent in any piece of jewelry.
