Botswana agate is a natural agate with characteristic brown and white stripes, named after its main discovery site in Botswana. Agates form in cavities of volcanic rocks: The gradual, phase-by-phase solidification of silicic acid solutions creates the typical layered patterns. The individual layers can consist of chalcedony, crystalline quartz, jasper, or opal. The square cut with fine facets gives this strand a modern, geometric elegance and effectively highlights the natural striped pattern.
