Disthene, also known as kyanite, appears in this gemstone necklace as a finely faceted 3 mm bead strand in a deep, velvety blue with a silky luster. The faceted gemstone beads capture light in a unique way, giving the necklace a vibrant, almost meditative radiance. Disthene is an aluminum silicate mineral (Al₂SiO₅) from the nesosilicate group. It possesses a mineralogical peculiarity: depending on the crystal direction, its Mohs hardness is 4.5–5 (longitudinal) or 6–7 (transverse). Its characteristic blue color is caused by traces of iron.
