Fluorite (also fluorspar) is a calcium fluoride mineral (CaF₂) with a Mohs hardness of 4 and perfect octahedral cleavage. It is one of the most color-diverse minerals – colorless, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, and multicolored (rainbow fluorite). The name is derived from the Latin "fluere" (to flow), as it was formerly used as a flux in metal processing. Fluorite also gives its name to the phenomenon of fluorescence – it often glows in intense colors under UV light. The tumble stones are gently polished and showcase the organic beauty of the mineral. Significant locations: China, Mexico, South Africa, Germany.
Significance in crystal healing
Fluorite is considered a stone of order, concentration, and mental clarity. It is said to promote learning and receptivity, create structure, and protect against negative energies. Depending on the color, it is believed to be associated with different chakras – rainbow fluorite is said to harmonize all chakras simultaneously. These attributions are based on handed-down tradition and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
