Goldstone is not a natural stone, but a synthetically produced glass that gets its characteristic glitter effect from the melting in of iron oxide particles. Blue goldstone owes its colour to finely distributed iron oxide inclusions, which sparkle in the light. The classic spherical shape in 8 mm is versatile and suitable for both simple and more elaborate jewellery creations. Despite its artificial origin, goldstone has been a popular gemstone for centuries, with its origin often attributed to 17th century Venetian Murano glass.
