Mandarin Garnet is the trade name for intensely orange spessartine garnet – named for its luminous color reminiscent of mandarins. The characteristic orange color is due to a high manganese content in the crystal. Spessartine belongs to the garnet group, crystallizes in the cubic system, and is known for its high refractive index. The fine 2 mm spheres with their facets make the warm color sparkle particularly vividly.
