Garnet is one of humanity's oldest gemstones – already valued as a protective and lucky stone in antiquity and the Middle Ages. Its name is derived from the Latin "granatum" (pomegranate), whose seeds strikingly resemble the red crystals. Colloquially, red garnet is also called "Carbuncle Stone". Garnet is a group of differently coloured gemstones with a similar crystal structure – members include almandine, grossular, pyrope, spessartine, andradite, and uvarovite. The tumble form gives each stone an organic, naturally grown appearance – no two strands are alike.

Significant deposits: India, Sri Lanka, Czech Republic, Madagascar, Brazil.

Meaning in healing stone lore

It is said to strengthen energy and vitality, promote self-confidence, and help to maintain strength and determination in difficult times. These attributions are based on traditional beliefs and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
