Hematite (also known as specular iron or bloodstone) is an iron oxide mineral (Fe₂O₃) with a Mohs hardness of 5.5–6.5 and a trigonal crystal structure. The name is derived from the Greek "haima" (blood) – powdered hematite shows a characteristic blood-red color, while the solid stone appears dark gray to black with a silvery-metallic luster. This metallic luster (specular iron) is its unmistakable feature. The large 10 mm faceted beads showcase the stone as a powerful statement piece of jewelry. Since ancient times, hematite has been valued as a protective stone. Significant deposits: Brazil, Australia, England (Cumberland), Austria.

Significance in Crystal Healing

Hematite is considered one of the most powerful protective and grounding stones. It is said to strengthen vitality, courage, and willpower, as well as support blood formation and circulation (according to crystal healing literature). It is associated with the root chakra and is believed to promote concentration and regeneration. These attributions are based on tradition and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
