Carnelian is an orange to orangish-red variety of chalcedony, whose color spectrum ranges from orange to flesh-red. The characteristic color is created by natural iron oxide inclusions in the crystal lattice. Carnelian is one of humanity's oldest gemstones and was valued as a protective and lucky stone in ancient Egypt and antiquity. The 8mm spheres particularly impressively showcase the warm, luminous color palette of carnelian – ideal for mala necklaces and expressive jewelry creations. Note: Red agate is often referred to as carnelian in trade – however, unlike this natural stone, it is artificially colored.
