Strand Length: approx. 40 cm
Stone Size: Diameter 6 mm
Cut: Ball
Color: Salmon Orange (natural)
Mineralogy: Carnelian (Chalcedony Group, Silicon Dioxide)
Carnelian is an orange to reddish-orange variety of chalcedony, whose color spectrum ranges from delicate salmon orange to flesh red. The characteristic color is created by natural iron oxide inclusions in the crystal lattice – genuine carnelian is not dyed. This strand shows a particularly delicate, salmon orange hue, which distinguishes it from more intensely colored varieties. Carnelian is one of the oldest gemstones of humankind and was already valued in ancient Egypt and antiquity as a protective and lucky stone. Note: Red agate is often referred to as carnelian in trade – however, unlike this natural strand, it is artificially colored.
Significant Deposits: Botswana, Brazil, South Africa, Russia, England, USA.
Meaning in Crystal Healing
In crystal healing, carnelian is considered a stone of vitality, energy, and courage. It is said to awaken new zest for life and confidence in difficult phases, and to promote joy in company and creative exchange. These attributions are based on ancient traditions and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
