Mineralogy: Carnelian (Chalcedony group, silicon dioxide)
Carnelian is an orange to reddish-orange variety of chalcedony, with a color spectrum ranging from orange to flesh red. The characteristic color results from natural iron oxide inclusions in the crystal lattice. Carnelian is one of the oldest gemstones used by humankind and was already valued as a protective and lucky stone in ancient Egypt and antiquity. The fine 2.5 mm faceted beads sparkle warmly and vibrantly – ideal as spacer beads or for delicate, intricate jewelry creations. Note: Red agate is often referred to as carnelian in commerce; however, unlike this natural stone, it is artificially colored.
