Carnelian is an orange to reddish-orange variety of chalcedony, with a color spectrum ranging from orange to flesh red. Its characteristic color comes from natural iron oxide inclusions in the crystal lattice. Carnelian is one of humanity's oldest gemstones and was already valued as a protective and lucky stone in ancient Egypt and antiquity. The 8 mm spheres particularly impressively highlight carnelian's warm, luminous color palette – ideal for mala necklaces and expressive jewelry creations. Note: Red agate is often referred to as carnelian in trade – however, unlike this natural stone, it is artificially colored.
