Labradorite is featured in this gemstone necklace as a finely faceted 4 mm bead strand in a mysterious gray. The slightly larger beads provide a more expressive accent than the 3 mm version; the faceting enhances the labradorescence, making the stones flash in deep blue, vibrant green, warm gold, delicate violet, and orange. Labradorite is a plagioclase feldspar ((Ca,Na)(Al,Si)₄O₈) with a Mohs hardness of 6–6.5. The labradorescence is caused by light interference on thin layers of varying composition within the crystal. First discovery site: Labrador Peninsula, Canada (1770). Further deposits: Finland (spectrolite), Madagascar, Russia, Norway, Mexico.
