Lapis Lazuli is one of the oldest and most sought-after gemstones in the world. Its name combines the Latin "Lapis" (stone) and the Arabic "Azul" (sky) – a reference to its intense, sky-blue color. Lapis Lazuli is not a single mineral, but a rock composed of lazurite (for the deep blue), calcite (white veins), and pyrite (golden gleam). It was mined in Afghanistan over 6,000 years ago and valued as a jewelry, protection, and painting pigment. The tumbled beads (approx. 7×10 mm) have an organic, natural shape – each bead is unique and gives the strand a casual, authentic character.
Major deposits: Afghanistan (Badakhshan), Chile, Russia, USA.
