Larimar necklace button 6 mm - 925 silver

In this gemstone necklace, Larimar is showcased as a button-style strand of approx. 6 mm, featuring a soft sky blue with the characteristic cloud-like pattern that evokes the vastness of the Caribbean Sea. Mineralogically, Larimar is a pectolite—a calcium-sodium silicate (NaCa₂Si₃O₈(OH)) from the chain silicate group. Its extraordinary light blue to turquoise color is caused by traces of copper and vanadium in the crystal lattice. Its Mohs hardness is 4.5–5. Larimar has only one single deposit worldwide: the Dominican Republic. Discovered in 1975 by Miguel Méndez, it was named by combining "Lari" and the Spanish "Mar" (sea). The more intense the blue, the more valuable the stone.

It is said to have a calming and harmonizing effect, to strengthen self-determination, and to promote trust in life. It is associated with the throat chakra (Vishuddha).
