Larimar Tumbled Necklace - 925 Silver

Larimar is showcased in this gemstone necklace as a tumble necklace with naturally shaped stones of approx. 8×15 mm in soft shades of blue and white. The smoothly rounded tumble stones shimmer vibrantly depending on how the light hits them, displaying the characteristic cloud-like patterns of Larimar in its most natural form. Mineralogically, Larimar is a pectolite – a calcium sodium silicate (NaCa₂Si₃O₈(OH)) from the inosilicate group. Its light blue color is created by copper ions embedded during crystallization. Its Mohs hardness is 4.5–5. Larimar has only one known deposit in the world: the Barahona province in the Dominican Republic, where it was formed in volcanic rock layers. Discovered in 1974 by Miguel Méndez and Norman Rilling – named after the name Larissa and the Spanish "mar" (sea).
