Lava stone is solidified volcanic magma – not a single mineral, but an extrusive igneous rock. Depending on its composition, it forms basalt (black, low in SiO₂), andesite (gray-brown), or rhyolite (reddish, high in SiO₂). Mohs hardness approx. 5–6. Its characteristic porous structure is created by trapped gases that leave cavities as the magma solidifies. Thanks to these pores, lava stone is suitable as a natural aromatherapy diffuser – a single drop of essential oil is sufficient. The knot is concealed under a silver bead. Locations: Iceland, Hawaii, Italy (Etna, Vesuvius), Indonesia, Central America.
