Moonstone belongs to the feldspar group and is closely related to labradorite. Its characteristic feature is the so-called adularescence – a soft, blue to whitish shimmer of light that appears to glide across the surface when the stone is turned. This phenomenon is caused by light refraction at thin layers of different feldspar minerals inside the stone. Moonstone was revered in antiquity as the stone of the moon and the goddess and was considered a protective stone for travelers in many cultures. The dark grey variety gives the strand an elegant, enigmatic depth – the shimmer appears particularly mysterious on the dark background.
