Moonstone is mineralogically an alkali feldspar (orthoclase-albite solid solution, (K,Na)AlSi₃O₈), Mohs hardness 6–6.5, monoclinic crystal system. Its distinctive characteristic is adularescence – a soft, milky shimmer that arises from light refraction on fine, parallel feldspar layers within the crystal, reminiscent of moonlight. The 6 mm beads display this fascinating play of light in its full beauty – present and expressive. The knot is concealed under a silver bead.
