Grey moonstone necklace 12 mm - 925 sterling silver rhodium-plated

Moonstone appears in this gemstone necklace as a classic 12 mm bead strand in a rich grey. The generous beads display adularescence particularly impressively: with every movement, a bluish-white shimmer is revealed, caused by the refraction of light on thin layers of feldspar inside the stone – calm, mysterious, unmistakable. Moonstone is a variety of alkali feldspar (orthoclase/adularia, KAlSi₃O₈) with a Mohs hardness of 6–6.5. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system and exhibits a silky, pearlescent luster.
