Mookaite received its name from the Australian Aboriginal people who found it at Mooka Creek – "mooka" means "running water" in their language. Mineralogically, it is a jasper-opalite and belongs to the quartz family. Its warm hues, from creamy white and sunny yellow to rich red and red-violet, are caused by iron oxide inclusions. Each stone displays a unique color pattern. The large flat ovals (15×20 mm) particularly highlight Mookaite's characteristic color gradients and patterns over a broad surface – ideal for expressive design necklaces and statement-making colliers.
