Moss Agate gets its name from its characteristic, moss-like green inclusions, which appear like tiny landscapes or plant motifs inside the stone. Mineralogically, it is a chalcedony – a microcrystalline quartz variety – whose green colour is caused by chlorite or hornblende deposits. No two stones show the same pattern, which makes each strand unique. The large flat discs (25 mm diameter, 8 mm thickness) particularly impressively showcase the green inclusions – each disc looks like a small natural painting. Ideal for expressive statement necklaces and designer jewellery.
