Peridot is the gemstone variety of the mineral olivine ((Mg,Fe)₂SiO₄), Mohs hardness 6.5–7, orthorhombic crystal system. The stone owes its characteristic fresh green color to its iron content – the higher the iron content, the more intense the green (yellow-green to olive green). Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occurs in only one color. Known as the "evening emerald" because its green does not fade even under artificial light. Special feature: Some peridots come from meteorites! The faceted cut of the delicate 3 mm beads enhances their natural luster. Sources: Myanmar, Pakistan, China, USA (Arizona), Egypt (Zabargad Island, mined since antiquity).
Significance in crystal healing
Peridot is considered a stone of emotional cleansing, vitality, and positive transformation. It is said to convert negative energy into positive, help release anger and emotional pain, promote independence, and open the heart chakra. It is believed to be associated with the heart and solar plexus chakras. These attributions are based on tradition and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
