Peridot – also known as olivine or chrysolite – is one of the few gemstones that only occur in one color: the characteristic olive green, which is caused by the iron content in the crystal lattice. The higher the iron content, the deeper and more saturated the green. The button strand with its faceting creates subtle light reflections and makes the warm green glow vividly. Peridot is one of the oldest known gemstones and was already mined in ancient Egypt on the island of Zabargad.
