Peridot – also known as olivine, from which it gets its second name – is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one color: the characteristic olive green, which is caused by the iron content in the crystal lattice. Peridots of good, pure quality are rare, which is reflected in the price. The 2.5 mm faceted beads create fine light reflections and make the warm green glow vibrantly – ideal for delicate necklaces, bracelet combinations, and as a color accent in designer jewelry. Peridot is one of the oldest known gemstones and was already mined in ancient Egypt on Zabargad Island.
