Peridot – also known as Olivine, from which it takes its second name – is one of the few gemstones that only occur in one color: the characteristic olive green, which is created by the iron content in the crystal lattice. Peridots of good, pure quality are rare. The delicate 2mm spheres with their faceting create fine light reflections and make the warm green glow vibrantly – ideal for delicate necklaces, bracelet combinations, and as a color accent in designer jewelry. Peridot is one of the oldest known gemstones and was already mined in ancient Egypt on the island of Zabargad.
