Strand length: approx. 40 cm
Stone size: approx. 10–12 mm
Cut: Tumble (tumbled stone, organic shape)
Color: Olive green to yellowish-green
Mineralogy: Peridot (Forsterite, Magnesium-Iron-Nesosilicate; color due to iron content)

Peridot – also known as Olivine, from which it gets its second name – is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one color: the characteristic olive green, which is created by the iron content in the crystal lattice. Peridots of good, pure quality are rare and particularly sought after in this size. The tumbled beads of this strand are organically rounded – each one unique in shape and size. The natural, unregulated appearance makes this strand an expressive material for individual, high-quality jewelry. Peridot is one of the oldest known gemstones and was already mined in ancient Egypt on the island of Zabargad.

Important deposits: Egypt, Burma, China, Norway, Pakistan, USA.

Meaning in healing stone lore

In healing stone lore, peridot is considered a cleansing and clarifying stone. It is said to help release anger, rage, and pain, to transform negative energies into positive ones, and to support independence and maturation processes. Traditionally, it is associated with digestion, liver, and detoxification, and is described as a companion for melancholy and depressive moods. These attributions are based on traditional lore and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
