Mineralogically, pearls are not stones, but organic structures made of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃, aragonite) embedded in conchiolin – produced by freshwater mussels. Mohs hardness of only 2.5–4.5. The soft, iridescent shimmer – the so-called luster or orient – is created by the refraction of light on the fine layers of aragonite. The "potato" shape (approx. 10 × 12 mm) is a natural, organic growth form. The diverse colors – white, cream, rosé, peach, gray, purple – develop naturally during the growth process inside the mussel. Freshwater pearls are primarily cultured in China. Care instructions: No contact with perfume, hairspray, or acids; wipe with a soft cloth after wearing.
Significance in crystal healing
Pearls are considered a symbol of beauty, grace, and femininity. They are said to promote emotional balance, relieve stress, strengthen intuition, and support harmonious relationships. Multi-colored pearls combine the energies of different colors and bring additional variety and harmony. They are said to be associated with the sacral and crown chakras. These attributions are based on ancient tradition and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
