Freshwater pearls appear in this pearl necklace as round 8 mm pearls in a harmonious play of colors – from delicate white to creamy rosé and soft peach tones to gentle lavender. The natural variety of shades is created by different growth conditions in the mussel; each pearl develops its own individual color nuance. The characteristic pearlescence – the so-called luster – is created by the refraction of light on the overlapping aragonite layers of the nacre. Freshwater pearls consist mainly of aragonite (CaCO₃) with a thin organic binding layer and a Mohs hardness of 2.5–4. The gold-plated magnetic clasp made of matte 925 silver adds a warm, elegant accent.
