Lapis Lazuli is mineralogically a metamorphic rock – a rock mixture consisting of lazurite ((Na,Ca)₈(AlSiO₄)₆(S,SO₄,Cl)₁₂, blue), pyrite (FeS₂, golden inclusions), and calcite (CaCO₃, white veins), with a Mohs hardness of 5–6. The 4 mm beads exhibit the characteristic deep royal blue with golden pyrite inclusions in a size comfortable for everyday wear. Historically, lapis lazuli was revered by the ancient Egyptians as a sacred stone and placed in the burial chambers of the pharaohs. Significant deposits: Afghanistan (Badakhshan, mined for over 6,000 years), Chile, Russia, Pakistan.
