Pyrite derives its name from the Greek word "pyr" (fire) – because it sparks when struck. Popularly, it is also called "cat's gold" because its golden metallic luster has caused many deceptions. Mineralogically, pyrite is an iron sulfide with a cubic crystal structure and is one of the most common sulfide minerals on Earth. The polished 8 mm balls show the characteristic, warm-golden metallic luster of pyrite and add a striking accent to any piece of jewelry.
Significant deposits: Spain, Peru, USA, Italy, Russia.
Meaning in healing stone lore
In healing stone lore, pyrite is considered a stone of power, energy, and assertiveness. It is said to strengthen personality, promote nerve strength, and release energetic blockages. Traditionally, it is also associated with the connection of rationality and creativity. These attributions are based on traditional lore and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
