The name jasper comes from Greek and means "speckled". Red jasper – also known as silex – belongs to the chalcedony group and derives its characteristic red colour from iron oxide inclusions in the stone. The flat-oval beads (20 x 14 mm) offer a generous surface area for the vibrant red of the stone – expressive and striking. Ideal for statement necklaces and individual designer jewellery.
