The name sapphire is derived from the Greek sappheiros ("blue") and refers to all corundum varieties except red (ruby). Sapphire is one of the four classic precious stones and, with a Mohs hardness of 9, is one of the hardest minerals in existence. The 4 mm faceted spheres combine a manageable size with a lively play of light – the characteristic cornflower blue is brought to life particularly freshly and vibrantly by the facets. Ideal for necklaces, bracelet combinations, and high-quality designer jewelry.
Significant locations: Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Madagascar, Kashmir, Australia.
Meaning in crystal healing
In crystal healing, sapphire has been considered a stone of inner clarity and calm since antiquity. Hildegard von Bingen described its effect on the nerves and mind. It is said to have a nerve-strengthening and calming effect. These attributions are based on long-standing tradition and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
