Shungite (also spelled shungit) is mineralogically a Precambrian rock with a carbon content of up to 98%, which formed approximately 2 billion years ago in Karelia (Russia). Its special feature: it contains naturally occurring fullerenes (C₆₀ and higher), a unique carbon structure only discovered in 1985. Mohs hardness approx. 3.5–4. Its deep black color with a natural luster makes shungite an elegant, understated gemstone. The 6 mm beads are delicate and ideal for combining.

Significance in crystal healing

Shungite is considered a stone of grounding, protection, and harmonization. It is said to protect against electromagnetic fields, harmonize energy, and provide grounding. According to crystal healing literature, shungite is used for cleansing, revitalization, and strengthening the immune system, and has traditionally been used for water purification as well.
