Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass that forms when silicon-rich lava cools rapidly. Silver obsidian displays a characteristic silvery shimmer, which is created by microscopically fine inclusions in the glass. Obsidian comes in many color variations – from classic black with a rainbow or silver effect to mahogany and snowflake obsidian. As early as the Stone Age, weapons and tools were made from obsidian. The diagonally drilled 14 mm beads give the strand a striking, geometric silhouette.
