Larimar is showcased in this gemstone necklace as an organically shaped button necklace of approx. 8 mm in soft sky blue to turquoise. The larger stones reveal the cloud-like pattern of the Larimar with particular expressiveness – each stone is a unique piece, shaped by nature. Mineralogically, Larimar is a pectolite – a calcium-sodium silicate (NaCa₂Si₃O₈(OH)) from the group of chain silicates. Its light blue to turquoise color is created by traces of copper and vanadium in the crystal lattice. The Mohs hardness is 4.5–5. Larimar has only one single location worldwide: the Dominican Republic. Discovered in 1975 by Miguel Méndez – named from "Lari" and the Spanish "Mar" (sea). The more intense the blue, the more valuable the stone.
