Emerald appears in this gemstone necklace as a delicate strand of 3 to 4 mm buttons in a rich, vibrant green – ranging from deep blue-green to fresh yellow-green. The small bead size gives the necklace a particularly delicate, feminine effect. Characteristic natural inclusions – the so-called "jardin" (garden) – make each stone a unique one-of-a-kind piece and attest to its authenticity. Emerald is the dark to light green variety of the mineral beryl (Be₃Al₂Si₆O₁₈) from the cyclosilicate group – belonging to the same mineral family as aquamarine (blue) and morganite (pink). The green color is caused by traces of chromium and vanadium. Mohs hardness: 7.5–8, hexagonal crystal system. Locations: Colombia (Muzo, Chivor), Zambia, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan.
