Emerald belongs to the beryl family – which also includes aquamarine and morganite – and derives its intense green color from chromium inclusions in its crystal lattice. It is one of the four classic precious stones and was revered as a magical stone by the ancient Egyptians. Famous deposits are found in Colombia and Brazil – emeralds have also been found in Austria. The faceted button beads (3–5 mm) display this intense green in a lively play of light – a high-quality material for sophisticated jewelry.
