Mineralogically, sodalite is a sodium aluminum silicate chloride (Na₈Al₆Si₆O₂₄Cl₂), with a Mohs hardness of 5.5–6 and a cubic crystal system. The name is derived from the Greek "soda" (salt) and "lith" (stone) due to its high sodium content. Its characteristic royal blue color with white calcite veins makes sodalite unmistakable; it rarely exhibits a cat's eye effect as well. These tumble stones (5–6 × 6–8 mm) are gently tumbled and polished—naturally shaped, organic, and comfortable to wear. Locations: Canada (Ontario), Brazil, Namibia, Russia.
Significance in Crystal Healing
Sodalite is considered a stone of the third eye, logical thinking, and concentration. It is said to promote foresight and rationality, aid in learning, and alleviate test anxiety. It is thought to be associated with the brow chakra. These attributions are based on established tradition and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
