Color: Orange
Mineralogy: Carnelian (Chalcedony group, silicon dioxide)
Carnelian is an orange to reddish-orange variety of chalcedony, whose color spectrum ranges from orange to flesh-red. The characteristic color is created by natural iron oxide inclusions in the crystal lattice. Carnelian is one of humanity's oldest gemstones and was already valued as a protective and lucky stone in ancient Egypt and antiquity. The drop shape (approx. 6×10 mm) gives the strand an elegant, flowing effect – especially beautiful as hanging beads in earrings, as starters, or in necklaces. Note: Red agate is often referred to as carnelian in trade – unlike this natural stone, however, it is artificially colored.
