It was mined in Afghanistan over 6,000 years ago and valued as a jewelry stone, protective amulet, and pigment – the famous ultramarine blue of Renaissance painting was derived from ground lapis lazuli. The nugget shape emphasizes the stone's natural character – each bead is unique with individual shape and color distribution.
