Lapis Lazuli is one of the oldest and most coveted gemstones in the world. Its name combines the Latin "Lapis" (stone) and the Arabic "Azul" (sky) – a reference to its intense, sky-blue color. Lapis Lazuli is not a single mineral, but a rock composed of lazurite (for the deep blue), calcite (white veins), and pyrite (golden flecks). It was mined in Afghanistan over 6,000 years ago and valued as a jewelry stone, protective amulet, and pigment – the famous ultramarine blue of Renaissance painting was derived from ground lapis lazuli. The nugget shape emphasizes the stone's natural character – each bead is unique with individual shape and color distribution.

Major deposits: Afghanistan (Badakhshan), Chile, Russia, USA.

Meaning in crystal healing

In crystal healing, lapis lazuli is considered a stone of friendship, truth, and inner wisdom. It is said to promote sincerity, sociability, and clear thinking, and to help in speaking and accepting the truth. It is also associated with the Third Eye and rational abilities. These attributions are based on traditional beliefs and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
